There are many examples of how Alexander McQueen's fashion ideas both revolutionized and shocked the world of fashion. All of McQueen's fashion shows made a display of extravagance and larger than life productions. In particular, dramatic and fantastical effects on the show were in case, granted by the British designer's strong silhouettes. In a 2000 fashion show, his models looked as they were reasoning patients imprisoned in a glass covered room. For the audience viewing the show, it gave the impression of being a reasoning ward. Being a lover of Alfred Hitchcock suspense films, it is believed Alexander McQueen was inspired by Alfred Hitchcock to generate this fashion show.
Alexander McQueen created a shipwreck scene for his 2003 spring collection. Two years later, in 2005, a human chess game was made out of his models. In the fall collection of the following year, which was called "Widows of Culloden", Kate Moss was dressed up in waves of fabric. Her image was then captured in a hologram that was shown at the town of the runway. Another 3 years later, in other words in 2009, his fall collection created a heap of scraps out of materials. The latter had earlier been used as props in old fashion shows, but the props were this time turned into the show's centerpiece. Dressed in black and orange wearing hats that were positively umbrellas, his models also had their faces made up to look like harlequins.

The 2000, 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2009 fashion shows are just some of the most celebrated examples of how Alexander McQueen single-handedly transformed the world of fashion.
